Where is the glory in this war?
At first glance, all it is is hell,
anger the first beast flushed from the deep,
its eye seeing in one dimension only
bad is bad and good is good.

Where is the glory in this war?
The only way to see the light
is to look more deeply at the dark.
Deeper than the beast of anger
lies sadness, then compassion,
then unity in all things.
This is the eye of faith
and if you think it's impossible,
look to the God who fell to earth,
touched his feet in this same war.

Where is the glory in this war?
Sorrow and joy flow mingled down
when we dig the hell deep enough
and see with the eye of faith.
It takes God's perspective.
He's here in the trenches with us.
